Another Negros Occidental official has tested positive for COVID-19.

Board Member Andrew Montelibano (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) confirmed yesterday that he tested positive for COVID-19 and he has absolutely no idea where he got the virus.

He said his RT-PCR test result was released by the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital molecular laboratory Thursday night. moremoremore


Virus hits 56 jail personnel, PDLs

Fifty-six jail officers and persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in jail facilities in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, have tested positive for the coronavirus disease, as of yesterday.

Nine of them have recovered, while 47 are active cases, Jail Senior Supt. Gilbert Peremne, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-6 assistant regional director for administration, said yesterday.

Nine out of 17 jail personnel at the Metro Bacolod District Jail-Male Dormitory at Magsaysay Street in Bacolod, who were swabbed, yielded positive results, Peremne said. moremoremore

DOLE 6 inspects temporary
dwellings of sugar workers

The Department of Labor and Employment Negros Occidental Field Office has intensified the inspection of temporary dwelling facilities of migratory sugar workers (MSWs) or “sacadas” from Antique.

The inspection, conducted on August 17 to September 11, was intensified to align with the protocols in preventing the further spread of Covid-19,” Mary Agnes Capigon, DOLE Negros Occidental Field Office head, said in a press release yesterday.

The temporary dwelling facilities of the haciendas in Bacolod City, Murcia, Silay City, Talisay City, Bago City, Kabankalan City, Isabela, Binalbagan, Victorias City, Pontevedra, La Castellana, La Carlota City, and Pulupandan had been inspected.
