Cauayan inaugurates new market

The new public market of Cauayan town in Negros Occidental, worth P100 million, and located at the national highway in Barangay Poblacion was inaugurated yesterday with Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Rep. Genaro Alvarez Jr. (Neg. Occ., 6th District), and Mayor John Rey Tabujara leading the ceremony.

The new market has 51 stalls, with wet and dry market areas, commercial stalls, canteen, and comfort rooms.

Lacson lauded the cooperation and hard work of the town’s officials in the realization of the project, which he said will lead to more economic activities and more progress.

He advised the vendors to do their share in maintaining the cleanliness of their new market.

He also asked authorities to strictly implement local health protocols in crowded places, particularly in the market, to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Tabujara thanked Lacson for his support of the town’s projects.

Meanwhile, the new municipal bus and excavator were also inaugurated yesterday, while 25 barangays received financial assistance, with counterparts from the province, to fund their projects.*
