Bacolod City Administrator Em Ang said yesterday that they are negotiating for additional buses to transport essential workers of the city.
Ang met with department heads Wednesday to discuss the possibility of providing essential workers of the city with shuttle service after the operation of public transport had been suspended with the implementation of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine status in Bacolod from Sept. 8 to 30.
In the meantime, they are using three buses and some vans, as well as government vehicles to shuttle frontliners, she said.
Ang said they plan to arrange shuttle services for essential workers because, although they are operating on a skeletal workforce, there are employees who cannot perform their work from home.
Other departments and offices have their own vehicles which they can use, she said.
Ang said they are also considering seeking the help of the private sector in providing essential workers of the city service vehicles for the duration of the MECQ.*
