AFC Cup 2020 cancelled,
Champions League stalled

Asia's football body yesterday cancelled this year's AFC Cup because of the coronavirus pandemic -- and also announced further delays to Champions League matches in what it said were "tough times" for the sport.

The Asian Football Confederation had hoped to restart its long-delayed Cup competition next month in four host countries, but following a meeting of the executive committee yesterday, they blew the whistle on the plans.

"These are tough times for everyone connected with football -- and sport in general," said AFC president Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa.

Raptors prevail in double OT
to set Game 7 clash vs. Celtics

Kyle Lowry scored 33 points and Norman Powell added 23 off the bench yesterday as defending champion Toronto bagged a series-levelling 125-122 double overtime victory over Boston in the NBA playoffs.

An emotional thriller that resembled the intensity of a heavyweight boxing matchup saw the Raptors sustain their repeat hopes and pull level 3-3 in the Eastern Conference semi-final with a winner-take-all game seven set tomorrow.

The winner advances to an Eastern Conference final showdown against Miami.
