BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN & SHIELA G. GELERA

Six drug suspects were arrested in a series of buy-bust and police operations in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental Tuesday, that yielded about P65,000 worth of suspected shabu.

The buy-bust operation at Fermin Street in Brgy. 5, Victorias City, led to the arrest of Mark Arlou Miraflores and the confiscation of about eight grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P54,400, and its paraphernalia, P200 in marked money, and P200 in cash.

Three other drug suspects, identified by the police as Benjo Montero, Arvin delos Reyes, and Christopher Arturo, were also arrested in Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City.

Policemen recovered one gram of suspected shabu, with a market value of P6,800, during the apprehension of the three suspects.

An alleged drug personality identified by the police as Ramil Mahilum, alias, Jumbol, managed to escape during a buy-bust operation in Purok Tumpok, Brgy. Zone 15, Talisay City, also on Tuesday.

But his brother, Benigno, was arrested by the police for alleged obstruction of justice.

Recovered during the buy-bust operation were two sachets of suspected shabu, worth P680.

Another buy-bust operation in Brgy. Recreo, Pontevedra, also led to the apprehension of Edgardo Mian, alias Tata, and the recovery of five sachets of suspected shabu valued at P4,080, P400 in cash and P500 in marked money, police said.

A suspected pusher was also arrested in a buy-bust operation in Purok 4, Barangay Granada in Bacolod City, at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Policemen of Station 5 nabbed Raymond Tapangan, 29, of the barangay, with 10 sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 1.73 grams and worth P10,000, P300 in marked money, a lighter, and P250 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs.

Tapangan is now detained at the custodial facility of Station 5 and he may face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
