WV inflation drops to 2.7%
BY MARCHEL P. ESPINA

Inflation in Western Visayas has dropped to 2.7 percent in August, but it is still among the regions with the highest headline, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported yesterday.

The national inflation also went down to 2.4 percent from 2.7 percent in July.

The PSA said the slowdown in inflation in August was primarily due to the deceleration of inflation for the heavily-weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages that slid to an annual rate of 1.8 percent during the period, from 2.4 percent in the previous month.

Residents urged to promote Sipalay
BY MARCHEL P. ESPINA

Sipalay City, the Jewel of the South, has come up with activities to encourage residents and even those who visited the locality to promote the city as part of its 14th Tourism Month celebration.

Themed “Safe and Secured Sipalay”, the activities include photo, video, and vlog contests, where winners can take home cash prizes and certificates.

The city government recently extended the temporary ban on the entry of tourists until September 15. This includes tourism-related and non-essential travel to the city.
