PBA teams ready to start scrimmages

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is seeking the government’s approval on a more active training session for the teams later this month.

In an article posted on its website, the PBA hopes the teams will be allowed to hold scrimmages by Sept. 16 despite the general community quarantine (GCQ) status for Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces.

The PBA, along with the Philippine Football Federation received late July the go signal from the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) to resume training after the release of the joint administrative order (JAO).

Djokovic marches on at US Open

Pre-tournament favorite Novak Djokovic marched into round two of the US Open yesterday as he launched his bid for a 18th Grand Slam with a straight-sets win.

The world number one dispatched unheralded DamirDzumhur of Bosnia-Herzegovina 6-1, 6-4,6-1 under floodlights at an empty Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

The Serbian superstar took just 23 minutes to win the first set before laboring to a narrow victory in an hour-long second set.
