CLO ordered to probe big crowd

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia has ordered the City Legal Office to investigate the cause of the unexpected big crowd of people that converged at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) in the early hours of September 26.

The mayor wants the CLO, through City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan, to investigate if anyone or any group had directly caused such an influx of people to the BCGC on that day

The CLO was ordered to submit the results of its investigation to the City Mayor’s Office not later than 10 days from September 28.

The crowding was in relation to an interview activity being conducted for the DSWD Financial Assistance Program.

Meanwhile, Leonardia has ordered the Department of Social Services and Development to survey and assess all the areas in the city affected by the flashfloods caused by the heavy downpour on Tuesday.

He also instructed the DSSD yesterday to immediately distribute food assistance to the affected barangays and to determine other forms of aid that can be provided to the affected families.

The affected families will also receive financial assistance from the city, the mayor said.

On the other hand, the DSSD is still in the process of assessing the amount of financial assistance to be distributed to the sectors that are most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic since it suspended indefinitely the distribution of cash subsidy Saturday.

Pacita Tero, DSSD-Bacolod head, said yesterday that they are still trying to determine the amount that should be given since there are many sectoral groups who have submitted their preferred recommendees.*
