DOE secretary thanks UNIFED
for helping frontlinersí fight virus
BY CARLA P. GOMEZ

Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi recently thanked the United Sugar Producers Federation of the Philippines for the alcohol it donated to protect frontliners fighting the deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a letter to UNIFED president Manuel Lamata, Cusisaid he is pleased that the federation has taken up the cudgels in donating alcohol.

Cusi said he appreciates UNIFED’s generosity in giving much needed alcohol to the frontliners of Mindoro who do not have anything in the island to protect themselves.

“The alcohol will not only help in stopping the transmission of COVID-19 in Mindoro, but also in saving the lives of our medical frontliners there,” Cusi told Lamata.

Lamata said the UNIFDED members “salute the frontliners and are thanking them for being in the front lines for all of us.”

He said UNIFED donated about 7,000 liters of alcohol to the frontliners of Mindoro on the request of Cusi.*
