Fastcraft fare hike seen in July

An increase in fastcraft fare is expected next month, Frank Carbon, operator of Weesam Express, said yesterday.

Carbon said they are looking at an P80 increase to cover fuel cost.

“Regardless of the number of passengers, we will have the same fuel cost per trip,” he added.

Fastcraft fare ranges from P220 to P400, he said.

Fastcrafts plying the Bacolod-Iloilo-Bacolod routes had resumed operations Saturday, and the passenger turnout was “very low,” he said.

He said in the first two days, they were only able to cater to 200 passengers per day or 50 per trip.

“After four days, we were able to serve 400 passengers. So, from the initial 50 passengers per trip, it increased to 70 to 80,” he added.

Under the “new normal”, the passenger capacity was reduced to 50 percent.

Those aged below 21 years old, and 60 years old and above, and persons with immunodeficiency, comorbidities or other health risks, and pregnant women are not encouraged to travel or be out of their residences, in the continuing fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.*
