Some lawyers and staff of the Negros Occidental Provincial Legal Office, and an employee of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office have been issued show cause orders following complaints lodged against them, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz confirmed yesterday.
About eight staff members of the PLO, at least four of whom are lawyers, have been issued the show cause orders, Diaz said.
They were asked to explain complaints that their daily time records were not correctly filled up, Diaz added.
Diaz also confirmed that lawyer John Michael Yee submitted a resignation letter last week and Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has accepted it, Diaz said.
Provincial Legal Officer Alberto Nellas Jr. said Yee resigned for personal reasons.
Diaz said an employee of the Treasurer’s Office was also issued a show cause order in relation to money matters.
This is a process that we have to undertake because there were reports coming in that we have been verified, Diaz said.
Nellas, in an earlier interview, said an anonymous complaint was sent to the Governor’s Office on the lack of time the PLO personnel put into their work at the Capitol, so they are all under investigation.
The PLO has eight lawyers, following the resignation of Yee, two of whom are assigned at the Provincial Environment Management Office, and about 10 other staff members, Nellas said.
No employee was named in the anonymous complaint, he added.*
