NPA owns killing of 3
BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The New People’s Army has claimed responsibility for the deaths of a member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit and two alleged assets of the military in central Negros.

Ka Dionesio Magbuelas, spokesman of the NPA Mt. Cansermon Command South Central Negros Front, said yesterday that they imposed the death penalty on two alleged local military assets in Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

Magbuelas said the two “military informants”, whom he identified only as Jimfley and Panoy, were punished by the revolutionary court in Sitios Cunalum and Daat, Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City.

He accused Jimfley and Panoy of being military assets. He further claimed that Jimfley forced the residents to surrender to the Armed Forces of the Philippines as NPA members.

Jimfley was identified later by the police as Joelito Hilacio, a former NPA member, who was reported by his wife, Teresita, to have been murdered by six suspected NPA members on June 13 in Sitio Lunoy, Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City.

Teresita told the police that her husband succumbed to three gunshot wounds, including a fatal injury in the head.

The Himamaylan City police have already established the identity of the leader of the NPA, who led in the execution of Hilacio, but withheld his name pending further investigations.

Lt. Col. Angelo Guzman, 94th Infantry Battalion commander, whose troops figured in series of armed skirmishes with communist rebels in the hinterlands of Brgys. Buenavista and Carabalan, Himamaylan City, yesterday strongly debunked NPA accusations that Hilacio is a military informant.

Guzman said that the NPA in central Negros is on rampage killing their former members, who had already abandoned the armed struggle, and innocent civilians, who are no longer supporting them.

Ka JB Regalado, spokesperson of the Leonardo Panaligan Command, also issued a statement claiming that their special partisan operation on June 11 against CAFGU member Macky Pacunla was successful.

Regalado said Pacunla, who was killed by the NPA Special Partisan Unit in Sitio Compound, Brgy. Luz, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, was involved in the brutal Oplan Sauron operations against peasant communities in Negros.

He added that the operation was part of efforts of the NPA to exact justice for the people of Negros who have been under the Duterte regime’s campaign of terror since 2018.*
