12 with warrants nabbed

Twelve persons with pending arrest warrants, including five laborers and three murder suspects, were separately arrested by the police Friday and during the weekend in Negros Occidental.

Three murder suspects were apprehended yesterday by the police in Brgy. Inolingan, Moises Padilla, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by La Carlota Regional Trial Court Judge Cyclamen Jison Fernandez.

The arrested wanted persons identified as Romel and Julie Gelacio and Sandy Alvarez were denied bail by Fernandez.

Another murder suspect identified as Lonie Hinar, was also nabbed by the police in Brgy. 5, Moises Padilla, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Fernandez, who also denied him of bail.

Five laborers identified Jay and Danny Noble, Elena and Jimmy Jocame, and Alberto Baylon Jr.,were apprehended by the police in Brgy. Mailum, Bago City, Saturday by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Airen Bonghanoy, for grave threats.

Bonghanoy has recommended P36,000 bail for each of the accused, who are now detained at the custodial facility of Bago City Police Station.

Jovel Velasco was also arrested by the police on Friday in Brgy. 1 Poblacion, Ilog, for direct assault against an agent of person in authority, while Elmber Abendan was nabbed in Himamaylan City, for robbery with homicide, police said.

Judge Mavil Majarucon has recommended P36,000 bail for Velasco, while Judge Walter Zorilla has recommended no bail for Abendano. Both are now locked up in jail.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group led by Police Chief MSGt. Ramiro Gocotano, assisted by the Police Station 6, Regional Intelligence Division 6 and 603rd Maritime Command, also arrested Demy Gemora Jr., an Overseas Filipino Worker, also on Friday in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City.

Gemora was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Maritess Gumahin, for violation of RA 7610 and RA 9262, with bail recommended at P36,000 and P80,000, respectively.*
