Nat’l athletes ‘detailed
service’ renewed

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) agreed on Tuesday to renew the detailed service (DS) for national athletes who have already booked or still vying for spots in the Tokyo Olympics.

The tripartite agreement, which expired last May, is supposed to be for all national athletes, but with coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic still affecting the Philippines, only those still in the running for the Olympics were granted DS for now.

“We are working with the POC in drawing up the list,” said PSC Acting Executive Director lawyer Guillermo Iroy Jr. yesterday.

NBL, WNBL ready to go pro

Two more basketball leagues are set to go fully pro.

The regional National Basketball League (NBL) and its female counterpart, the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL), have made their intent to be under the sanction of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) known.

"We have already met and they (have) submitted their application to GAB already," GAB Chairman Baham Mitra said.
