There are 18 new coronavirus disease confirmed patients in Negros Occidental, one of whom is the doctor wife of a COVID-19 positive nurse from Talisay City.
The 17 others are locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who recently returned to Negros Occidental, bringing the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the province to 167, the Department of Health reported yesterday.
Southern Negros to get lab, too

A molecular laboratory with the capacity to conduct 1,000 COVID-19 tests a day is set to rise in southern Negros Occidental, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday.
The second COVID-19 laboratory of the provincial government that will be located at the Valladolid District Hospital in Valladolid town is a joint venture with a private firm, he said.It will be at no cost to the provincial government, Diaz said.

Bacolod readies Covid recovery plan

The city government of Bacolod is preparing its coronavirus disease 2019 economic and recovery plan, City Administrator Em Ang said yesterday.
City officials, led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, recently held a consultative meeting to tackle the economic stimulus and recovery plan for the various sectors affected by the pandemic.Ang said Councilor Dindo Ramos was tasked to head the Economic Stimulus Team, that is in charge of consolidating the recommendations from various sectors, and the economic packages from the national government.
