Three unlicensed firearms with ammunition were seized by the police in separate raids on Wednesday in Cauayan, Negros Occidental, that led to the arrest of two suspects, police chief Maj. Lowell Garinganao said yesterday.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Conrado Estreller, policemen raided the residence of Rene Querpo in Brgy. Caliling, Cauayan town.
Garinganao said that the implementation of the search warrant yielded two Para Ordnance and .45 caliber pistols with three magazines containing 19 ammunition, and the arrest of Querpo.
Another raid on the same day in Sitio Cambuhin, Brgy. Mambugsay, also in Cauayan, by virtue of another search warrant issued by Judge Estreller Jr., led to the arrest of Raymund Bolneo.
The raid yielded a Springfield Armory .45 caliber pistol with a magazine containing two live ammunition, Garinganao said.
Both arrested suspects face complaints of carrying guns, although unauthorized to do so. Both also failed to present documents that allow them to possess the confiscated guns, he added.
Garinganao also reported that Querpo was previously charged for homicide, but the case was dismissed by the court.*
