Port authorities seized P90,000 worth of suspected dried marijuana leaves at the San Carlos City Port in Negros Occidental, Tuesday.
The suspected dried marijuana leaves, weighing 750 grams, were placed in a box containing dried fish, Maj. Mark Angelo Junco, officer-in-charge of the San Carlos City Police Station, said in his report to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
The San Carlos City police said the sender was a certain Jimboy Laña and the cargo originated from the port of Toledo City in Cebu.
A K-9 dog discovered the illegal drugs, the police said.
Meanwhile, a buy-bust operation also on Tuesday in Brgy. 6, Kabankalan City, led to the apprehension of Mars Boaquina and Carla Jane Elicana, both listed by the police as Street Level Individual drug personalities.
The arrest of the two suspects yielded 13 sachets of suspected shabu with a street market value of P15,000, and its assorted paraphernalia, P100 in marked money and P4,737 in cash.
The Kabankalan police also served an arrest warrant against Boaquina, that was issued by Judge Jose Manuel Lopez, for resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, Lt. Col. Mary Rose Salve, Kabankalan City police officer-in-charge, said in her report to NOCPPO.
Three other drug suspects identified as Mark Joven Alaveran, Noberto Pabillo Jr. and Andrew Tan were separately apprehended by the police in the cities of Bago, and Himamaylan as well as in Pontevedra Town, all in Negros Occidental.
The arrest of Alaveran took place during a buy-bust operation in Brgy.Napoles, Bago City and yielded P2,500 worth of suspected shabu, P300 in marked money, a back pack containing personal belongings and P140 in cash.
The apprehension of Pabillo in Brgy. DSB, Pontevedra, yielded five sachets of suspected shabu worth P8,000 and P500 in marked money, police said.
The police also seized P8,500 worth of suspected shabu and P500 in marked money during the arrest of Tan in Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan City, also on Aug. 25.*
