PNP awaits Covid test guidelines
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

Guidance from the Bacolod City Health Office is being awaited whether police officers at Station 3, where the two drug suspects, who tested positive for COVID-19, were detained, should also undergo tests for the virus.

The two detainees were among the six persons arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Occidental in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Banago, Bacolod, early this month.

Five of the PDEA agents in that operation tested positive and are now on quarantine together with the two drug suspects they had arrested.

P/Col. Henry Biñas, Bacolod police director, said the detention cell of Station 3 is separate from the office area of the police personnel, and no one has manifested symptoms, so far.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Police Office is waiting for the results of the swab tests conducted on 27 of its personnel.

So far, only three augmentation personnel and two organic sibling cops tested positive for Covid-19. The three augmentation personnel from Police Regional Office 6, who were supposed to undergo basic internal security operations course, are still on quarantine and they are all asymptomatic.

They had been deployed in Purok Mahimulaton, Barangay Banago in Bacolod when the area was locked down, Biñas said.

The two sibling cops assigned at Station 9 in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod, and at the Administration Section of BCPO, experienced mild symptoms and will be discharged after more than 15 days of quarantine, he said.

Biñas said the 27 personnel assigned at the Administration Section and Mobile Patrol Group, were close contacts of one of the augmentation policemen.*
