Salvador Benedicto town in Negros Occidental received additional funds for the perimeter fencing intended for its native chicken and goat production projects, Remelyn Recoter, Department of Agriculture in Western Visayas director, said yesterday.
This is in support of the native chicken and goat production projects, worth P414,400 and P1.995 million, respectively, under the Special Area for Agricultural Development program, she said.
The P353,000 in additional assistance was utilized to purchase materials to secure the animals from predators and natural calamities, she said.
The beneficiaries are the Purok Locsin Farm and Farmers Workers Association, Barangay Pandanon Farmers’ Association, Kumaliskis Women’s Association, Kauswagan sa Kababaehan sang Pinowayan Farmers’ Association, Kudyawan Women’s Association, Bago Integrated Farmers’ Association, Bagong Silang Binhi Farmers’ Association Inc., Pandanon Integrated Social Forestry Farmers Tuguisan Association Inc., and the Pasto Farmers’ Association.
Salvador Benedicto is one of the covered municipalities of SAAD in Negros Occidental with 27 group beneficiaries, Recoter said.
She added that the livelihood projects aim to support farmers to produce food and provide income through community enterprises.*
