The United Sugar Producers’ Federation of the Philippines is recommending that 7 percent of the country’s sugar production for the new crop year be allocated as “A” for the US sugar market quota, Unifed president Manuel Lamata said yesterday.
Lamata said Unifed’s recommendation for Sugar Order No. 1 for the start of milling on September 1, after consulting with its board and members, was a 7 percent allocation for the A market and 93 percent for B, or domestic market.

aid for chicken, goat projects

Salvador Benedicto town in Negros Occidental received additional funds for the perimeter fencing intended for its native chicken and goat production projects, Remelyn Recoter, Department of Agriculture in Western Visayas director, said yesterday.
This is in support of the native chicken and goat production projects, worth P414,400 and P1.995 million, respectively, under the Special Area for Agricultural Development program, she said.
The P353,000 in additional assistance was utilized to purchase materials to secure the animals from predators and natural calamities, she said.
