Cops apprehend 4 with drugs, gun

The series of buy-bust and police operations in Negros Occidental from Aug. 21 to 23 led to the arrest of seven suspects, including a minor, and the recovery of about eight grams of suspected shabu worth P54,000 and an unlicensed gun with ammunition.

The buy-bust operation in Brgy. Caduha-an, Cadiz City, yesterday resulted in the arrest of Jomel Diaz Tina, 40, and a 15-year-old, whose identity is being withheld, and the recovery of 0.5 gram of suspected shabu worth P3,000, and P500 in marked money.

Another buy-bust operation on Saturday also led to the arrest of Pelomer Gegonia, alias Siting, in Brgy. Central Tabao, Valladolid, that also yielded two grams of suspected shabu worth P10,000, and P500 in marked money.

Seven sachets of suspected shabu and P500 in marked money were also recovered by the police during the arrest of Federico Mendrez, alias Epid, during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Vito, Sagay City, Friday, a report to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office said.

Police Lt. Col. Eduardo Corpuz also reported to NOCPPO the arrest of Rene Angelou Tabcug during a buy-bust operation at Osmena Avenue in Brgy. 4, Victorias City.

The apprehension of Tabcug yielded eight sachets of suspected shabu, P500 in marked money, a cellular phone, P19,680 in cash and a Yamaha Mio 125 motorcycle, a police report said.

A similar anti-drug operation in Brgy. Asia, Hinobaan, also on Friday, resulted in the arrest of a drug suspect identified by the police as Jesus Duhaylungsod, and the recovery of three sachets of suspected shabu and P500 in marked money.

A drug suspect identified by the police as Sherwin Hibionada is now in jail, following his arrest during a buy-bust operation on Friday in Brgy. Gargato, Hinigaran, that also yielded six sachets of suspected shabu and P500 in marked money, P540 in cash and a Yamaha 125 motorcycle.

The raid at the residence of Rogelio Taborete, also on Friday, in Brgy. Balingasag, Bago City, which was conducted by the police by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Cyclamen Jison Fernandez, also led to his arrest, following the recovery of a .38 caliber revolver with five live ammunition.*
