5th district brgys
get medicines: Arroyo

Through the efforts of Rep. Ma. Lourdes “Marilou” Arroyo (Neg. Occ., 5th District), 53 barangays from the 5th District of Negros Occidental received free medicines from the Department of Health, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and the Provincial Health Office, a press release from her office said yesterday.

Distributed were maintenance medicines for diabetes and high blood pressure, multivitamins and antibiotics, it said.

They were turned over to 24 barangays in Hinigaran, 13 in La Castellana, 15 barangays in Moises Padilla, and Barangay Payao in Binalbagan, the press release said.

There was no distribution to Himamaylan City and the town of Isabela since both places have their own hospitals, the Governor Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital and the Ignacio L. Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital, respectively, it added.

Arroyo said she requested the medicines with the aim of helping those who cannot afford to buy their medicines.*
