19 WV cops Covid positive

There are now 19 police personnel in Western Visayas who have tested positive for COVID-19, regional police spokesperson Lt. Col. Joem Malong said yesterday.

This was after three police personnel assigned at the PRO6 headquarters in Iloilo were added to the list of those infected by the virus, Malong said.

Four of the COVID-19 positive police personnel are assigned at the Bacolod City Police Office and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

Police Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, PRO6 director, reiterated his reminders to all police personnel in Western Visayas to strictly adhere to the health protocols being implemented to ensure their personal safety and that of their families.

Malong reported that 98 police personnel at the regional office headquarters were subjected to RT-PCR testing that was administered by the Iloilo City Health Office.

Some of the 98 personnel are assigned to the compromised offices while some are close contacts of those who were tested positive for the virus, based on the contact tracing conducted by the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division.

Another 108 personnel assigned at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City will also undergo a similar RT-PCR testing today with the results expected to be released within three to four days after being administered, Malong added.

Disinfection and other health protocols will also be strictly implemented inside the camp.*
