Land tax office reopens Monday
BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The Land Tax Division of the Bacolod City Treasurer’s Office will resume full operations on Monday after being closed for disinfection and decontamination since July 31.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia also ordered the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) temporarily closed for disinfection and preventive decontamination from August 10 to 15 after two employees of the Land Tax Division succumbed to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and six other employees tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, the Barangay Hall of Brgy. 12 in Bacolod City will also be temporarily closed for disinfection starting today and will resume operations on Monday.

Councilor Cindy Rojas, chairman of the Action Team on Non-Returning OFWs, on the other hand, said the city is ready to accept returning locally stranded individuals (LSIs) after the 14-day moratorium ends tomorrow.

By Saturday, LSIs from Cebu will be returning to Bacolod, and LSIs from Manila Monday. These LSIs include returning residents who have lost their jobs.

As long as there are available quarantine facilities, the returning residents are welcome to come home, Rojas said.

She added that they are expecting more than 100 returning residents from Cebu and the same number from Manila.

As of yesterday almost 100 LSIs were still occupying the city’s quarantine facilities. Some are waiting for the result of their swab test while some of them are asymptomatic COVID- positive, she said.

Local governments should be informed of returning residents ahead of time so they can prepare their quarantine centers, Rojas said.*
