Enforcement of face
shield rule Monday

The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) of Negros Occidental is preparing for the strict implementation of the policy on the wearing of face shields while in public utility vehicles, starting next week.

P/Capt. Robelito Mariano, head of HPG-Negros Occidental, said yesterday that they are still conducting an information dissemination campaign this week.

Mariano said their campaign will focus on the drivers of PUVs and public utility jeepneys to ensure that they themselves and their passengers are wearing face shields and face masks, to curb the spread of coronavirus disease 2019.

Drivers will be charged for reckless driving under Republic Act 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, in relation to a Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board order for non-wearing of face shield, Mariano said.

He added that this is also in connection with the law enforcement operation in compliance with the Department of Transportation Memorandum Circular 2020-014.*
