Virus hits 5 more at Capitol

Five more Negros Occidental provincial government employees tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

The test results from the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital laboratory will be submitted to the Department of Health 6, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

Those who tested positive were three more employees from the Bids and Awards Committee office, a Provincial Veterinary Office employee, who is the mother of a BAC worker who was earlier confirmed to have the virus, and a Provincial Health Office casual employee, Diaz said.

This brings to 19 the total number of COVID-19 positive provincial government employees, he said.

The provincial Capitol and its adjacent offices in Bacolod City were locked down Wednesday following the surge in COVID-19 cases among its employees, and are expected to reopen Monday.

Meanwhile, the DOH 6 yesterday reported 15 new COVID-19 cases in Bacolod City and six in Negros Occidental.

Of the 15 in Bacolod City, 12 are domestic cases, including a 3-year-old male, and three are locally stranded individuals, the DOH said.

Of the six new cases in Negros Occidental, two from Victorias City, and one each from Talisay City and Silay City are local cases.

One from Binalbagan is a returning overseas Filipino and one from Silay City is a locally stranded individual.

The DOH also reported that 24 COVID positive patients in Negros Occidental and five from Bacolod City have recovered.

Of those from Negros Occidental, three are from Cadiz City; Cauayan, Victorias City, San Carlos City, Talisay City, EB Magalona and La Carlota City have two each; and Sagay City, Bago City, Kabankalan City, Pontevedra, Himamaylan, Moises Padilla, Ilog, Silay City and La Castellana have one each.*
