Animal hospital up
BY MARCHEL P. ESPINA

Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said that an animal district hospital will be established soon in Kabankalan City.

He said that Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Mayor Pedro Zayco met this week to finalize the joint project that will offer veterinary services in the 6th District and neighboring localities.

Decena said the local government unit will provide the building while the province, through the Provincial Veterinary Office, will supply the equipment and manpower.

He said the LGU will prepare the building plan and lot, while the province will ready the proposal and the memorandum of agreement.

He said the animal hospital will be constructed in the demo farm of the city along the highway. He added they are targeting to complete the project by early next year.

He said they want to make veterinary services accessible in the district and neighboring areas, adding that para-veterinarian and its extension services were only available to assist if there are any animal emergencies. He added that veterinarians were assigned at the district offices.

Meanwhile, Decena said that the local government of Cauayan will hire municipal veterinarians to help with meat inspections and problem on stray dogs.*
