50 barangays seeking
‘drug-cleared’ status
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-6 said more than 50 barangays of Negros Occidental, including those in Bacolod City, want to be declared drug-cleared, as the province is set to host the 20th Regional Oversight Committee (ROC) on barangay drug clearing program deliberations tentatively scheduled in the first week of September.

The PDEA said these barangays will undergo initial on-site validation before being formally presented to the ROC.

The holding of ROC and initial preparations were discussed during the meeting of PDEA-Negros Occidental Provincial Office, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, and Moises dela Cruz, executive assistant of Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia Tuesday.

The status of the Community Based Rehabilitation Program of drug surrenderers was also discussed as well as actions to be undertaken by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council to support and assist the barangays in complying with all the parameters required to be declared drug-cleared.

Lacson also reaffirmed his full support to PDEA in its anti-drug campaign, the report said.

They also agreed to observe and comply with health protocols and precautionary measures against Covid-19 during the conduct of the deliberation.*
