Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Western Visayas generated more than P1 million in sales from an online trade fair initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry Region 6.
The “Pasinaya: The One Town One Product Digital Market Showroom and Online Trade Platform” featured food and non-food products in the region through online marketing, that linked the sellers and the buyers.
The participating MSMEs from Negros Occidental included Muybien Ventures, MFK Agri Products and Technology, Satoca ARC, Tumandok Crafts, Ruby Shellcrafts and Arts, and Hacienda Crafts.
As of July 30, P1,109,095.25 was generated from sales, booked sales, and under negotiation transactions from the virtual trade fair held from July 20 to 24.
Rebecca Rascon, DTI Region 6 director, said the “Pasinaya” was the first digital trade fair that served as a platform where buyers met, sourced, and connected with the best products of homegrown and regional exhibitors in various showrooms via Zoom, a web-based video conferencing tool.
She said it was initiated by the DTI Regional Operations Group to digitally equip MSMEs and widen their market online as they embrace digitalization and e-commerce under the new normal.
“Our MSMEs must adopt and embrace the new generation of trade fairs to maximize their potentials and connect with buyers through an internet-mediated ecosystem,” she said.*
