NOPSSCEA re-schedule
basketball games anew

College basketball games in NOPSSCEA Season ’39 failed to start as scheduled yesterday with the schools getting a vague text message from tournament officials informing them about the changes.

Defending champion Colegio de Sta. Ana – Victorias expressed dismay about this development and urged the NOPSSCEA to set a definite schedule about the games.

“It is unfair not only to us but also the other teams who have already prepared for the games. Our players are all geared up to play,” CSA-V Titans team manager Ramon Cruz said.

P50-M SEAG cauldron criticized

A cauldron costing nearly US$1 million that will hold the Southeast Asian Games flame has drawn anger in the Philippines, sparking comparisons to the excesses that epitomized the Marcos era.

Critics in the Philippines, which is hosting the Games in and around Manila from November 30, have said the P50 million (US$984,000) would have been better spent helping the nation's children and poor.

The 160 feet cauldron has been built at the main stadium in Clark, north of Manila, for the regional Games which start on November 30.
