P7.2M in shabu seized

About P7,205,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in Bacolod City, yesterday.

The bulk of the illegal substance was recovered from a high-value target and a member of an organized drug group, with some of his alleged associatesreportedly still detained in Negros jails.

Operatives of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-6 confiscated about P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu from Ronaldo Roquero, alias “Dacoycoy,” at the South Capitol Road in Barangay 9, Bacolod, at about 2:30 a.m. yesterday.

Ten sachets of suspected shabu, P7,000 in marked money, two big packs of suspected shabu, a digital weighing scale, an orange bag, two pouches, a cellular phone, P1,500 in cash, and a silver Toyota Innova were recovered from Roquero, police reports show.

Lt. Thurslie Castillo, Negros RDEU team leader, said yesterday that Roquero, who was released from jail on a plea bargaining agreement for a drug case in 2018, confessed that his current drug transactions have been with two persons deprived of liberty (PDL) , one of whom is at the Negros Occidental District Jail.

Theillegal drugs transactions were recorded in the cellular phone conversations of Roquero with a PDL, whom he identified as Alain Gamboa, and another PDL, whose complete name he did not know.

Gamboa, who is now detained at the NODJ, was the former number 1 drug personality of Silay City in Negros Occidental. He had surrendered to Silay Mayor Mark Andrew Golez, in the presence of then Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region director Ronnie Delicana, and former Silay Police chief Supt. Willy Diel on July 7, 2016, at the height of the Oplan Tokhang.

However, on April 27, 2017, Gamboa was arrested during a buy-bust operation at an abandoned building in Barangay 1, Silay.

“Those (drug personalities) from other regions contact the one in jail, while the person doing the transaction is the one outside,” Castillo said.

He said that the group of Roquero, who is classified as a high-value target,is organized considering their modus in the illegal drug transactions that covers the whole of Bacolod, by being mobile, and using rent-a-cars.

Roquero is now detained at the custodial facility of Station 2.

Following the information of the alleged links of Roquero to Gamboa at the NODJ, its warden Chief Insp. Norberto Miciano Jr. said he had ordered a greyhound operation on the cell and dormitory of the PDL.

The operation was negative for any contraband and gadgets that could be used for communication, Miciano said.

He said Gamboa, who was transferred to the NOPJ from the Silay Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in May this year, was also subjected to a drug test yesterday, and the results showed him negative for drug use.

“Right now we are conducting investigation to check the validity of the allegation of the apprehended suspect,” Miciano said.

About P405,000 worth of suspected shabu was also confiscated from a high-value target and his companion in Purok Maabiabihon, Barangay 35 in Bacolod, at about 12:45 a.m. yesterday.

Police Station 3 nabbed Joselito Detoyato, 36, a HVT, and John Ronel Jaleco, 34, with seven sachets of suspected shabu, P500 in marked money, and several drugs paraphernalia, police records show.*
