Top Writers, Advisers

The editors of Colegio San Nicolas de Tolentino-Recoletos of Talisay City and Moises Padilla Elementary School shared top individual honors in the just-concluded Division of Negros Occidental Schools Press Conference.

Khayze Presquito of MPES topped English feature writing and science and technology reporting to score a perfect 20 points and emerge highest individual pointer in the grade school level.

Jerome John Celo of CSNT-R was first placer in English copyreading and headlining and third in editorial writing (18) for the top spot in the high school level.

Mary Christie Espinosa of Binalbagan Catholic College and Phoebe Gentile of Binalbagan National HS placed second and third, respectively.

Adriel Joseff Aurelio, schoolmate of Presquito, was second highest pointer with his third and fourth-place finishes in copyreading and news writing.

Oella Marie Espora of Talisay South ES and Glen Mar Gersin of Himaya ES (Hinigaran) placed third and fourth highest individual pointers among grade school writers.

Gira Delgado, Filipino adviser of Negros Occidental High School, was highest pointer among advisers with NOHS’ English mentor Hanemar Ponteras and Jamezen Nobles of Isabela NHS as second and third placers.

Moises Padilla ES adviser Grace Aurelio clinched the highest pointer award in the grade school level.

Jeanette Canagoy of F. Barandiaran ES (Murcia) was second placer followed by Anilyn Abule of San Miguel ES (Murcia) and Rhodora Quilantang of Binalbagan ES.

NOHS and Binalbagan ES were the overall DSPC champions.*

‘Tales’, Gary V. concert
at Luce Auditorium

The Silliman University Culture and Arts Committee will present two performances at Luce Auditorium in Dumaguete City this month.

The Integrated Performing Arts Guild will stage ‘Tales from Mindanao’ on Nov. 22 and 23 with the matinee scheduled at 3 p.m. and the gala presentation at 8 p.m.

‘Tales’, apparently the most widely-staged Philippine theater production, has been extensively presented across the country and in more than 100 cities in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region.

IPAG is the theater company of the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology in Iligan City.

The start of the Christmas celebration will be highlighted by the Gary Valenciano ‘Pasko sa Dumaguete’ concert on Nov. 30 at 8 p.m.

Sharing the limelight with the legendary Gary is his son, Gabriel, who will be the guest performer in the concert.

The show is co-produced by the Dumaguete City government.*
