Three minors died of suspected dengue in Bacolod City in the first half of the year, a report from the City Health Office showed yesterday.
In the report said the fatalities include a two-year-old girl from Barangay Granada who died at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital on June 24, a 13-year-old boy from Barangay Tangub who died on June 4, and a 13-year-old girl from Barangay Handumanan who died on January 23.
The same report also showed that 477 cases of dengue were monitored in the city from January 1 to June 22 this year, posting an increase of 65 percent compared to last year with 289 cases and three fatalities.
The report also showed that the age group with the most number of cases are those aged one to 10 years old, while affected cases were aged seven months old to 87 years old.
According to the report, Barangay Estefania has the highest number of dengue cases with 56 followed by Barangay Tangub with 35, Barangays Pahanocoy and Taculing with 31 each, Barangay Granada with 30, Barangays Handumanan and Mansilingan with 28 each, Barangay Alijis with 27, Barangay Mandalagan with 25, and Barangay Villamonte with 23.*
