PDEA seizes P.5M in shabu
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

Close to P.5 million worth of suspected shabu was again recovered in buy-bust operations in Bacolod City, yesterday.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Negros Occidental seized about P340,000 in suspected shabu from two men during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, at about 12:15 a.m. yesterday.

The PDEA-Negros Occidental team led by IA Mario Portugal Jr., confiscated the contraband from Benjur Cawaling and Juan Carlos Labayen, who were later arrested.

Recovered from Cawaling and Labayen were the buy-bust money, a digital weighing scale and about 50 grams of suspected shabu, PDEA-6 records show.

Meanwhile, about P150,000 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated and four persons were arrested during a police buy-bust at San Mateo Village in Barangay Banago, Bacolod, at about 5 p.m. yesterday.

Police Station 3 operatives nabbed Mario Dequiña, 54, Charles Pugal, 35, Christopher Jones Sison, 36, and Richard Aguado, 28, a police report said.

Their arrest yielded seven sachets of suspected shabu and P200 in marked money, police records show.

Charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against the suspects.*
