WV inflation dips to 2.5%
BY MARCHEL P. ESPINA

The inflation rate in Western Visayas decelerated in the month of June, at 2.5 percent from 3 percent in May, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported yesterday.

The inflation rate of the region was among the lowest in the country, or at sixth place from among the 17 regions. It is also lower than the national average of 2.7 percent from 3.2 percent in May.

The slowdown of inflation in June was mainly driven by the slower annual rate posted in the index of the heavily-weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages, the PSA said.

BY MARCHEL P. ESPINA

Around 30 exhibitors are expected to join the annual Negros Business Week of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry that will kick off today at Robinsons Place in Bacolod City.

MBCCI chief executive officer Frank Carbon said that the 12-day exposition, now on its 11 th year, is a venue for local government units to showcase investment opportunities and tourism destinations, and for small entrepreneurs to sell their products and have a chance to expand their market beyond the province.

“Our focus for this year is on creating opportunities for those in the rural areas”, by helping the farmers sell their raw materials that will be used for processed products that will be sold at the exposition, he said.
