Go invited to Charter Day

Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Special Assistant to the President, has accepted the invitation of Mayor Evelio Leonardia to be the guest of honor and speaker at the 80th Commemoration of the Signing of the Charter of the City of Bacolod on Monday, at L’ Fisher Hotel.

Go is an executive assistant and has been a personal aide of President Rodrigo Duterte since 1998. He currently has supervision over the Presidential Management Staff.

He is reportedly being groomed to be one of the senatorial candidates of the PDP-Laban in 2019.

Leonardia said, “We are very honored that no less than President Rodrigo Duterte’s closest confidant has accepted our invitation to be our guest of honor on this special event. Our celebration of the 80th commemoration of the signing of our charter has become even more significant and colorful.”

Councilor Em Ang, executive director of the Committee on the 80th Year Celebrations, said, “We are pleased and honored to have ‘Selfie King’ as our guest of honor on our 80th Charter Anniversary.

Besides being the closest confidant of the President, his now famous selfies and pictures are giving us a rare glimpse of important national and international events, which have the effect of bringing the Filipino people closer to the President and the President closer to the Filipino people.”

The program starts with a mass at 8 a.m., where Leonardia, Rep. Greg Gasataya, and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran will deliver their messages.

Ang will introduce Go.

The program will be followed immediately by an awarding ceremony.

The city government will honor individuals and organizations with its Most Outstanding Employees, Outstanding Taxpayers, Mayor’s Special Citations, and the Ang Banwahanon Awards –which is the highest award the city bestows to its citizens.*
