‘Laragway sang
Bacolodnon' exhibit Friday

Eight visual artists from Bacolod and Iloilo will hold a group exhibit, titled “Laragway sang Bacolodnon”, at the Jun Mendoza Dioce Art Gallery at the second level of SM City-Bacolod southwing Friday, and this will run until October 31.

The exhibit will feature the artworks of Gina Apostol of Iloilo, and Alexa Escanillan, Marie Joy Resurreccion, Janice Mojana, Abelardo Pasigado, Bert Berondo and his son, Carlos, and gallery owner Jun Mendoza Dioce of Bacolod City.

Dioce said this is the first time an art exhibit will be held in his gallery. Their artworks will be done in pen and ink, oil, acrylic and other medium.

They have invited Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya and Councilor Em Ang, Sangguniang Panlungsod chairman of the Committee on Tourism, as guests of honor during the opening program on Friday at 4 p.m., he said.

He plans to put up a coffee shop in his gallery which he hopes to open during the launch of the art exhibit, Dioce said.

The coffee shop will feature tables shaped like palette boards used by artists for mixing colors. Artists can do their paintings at the coffee shop while having coffee, he said.

Dioce said he will have coffee mugs used by their regular customers designed by local artists. While their special customers are having coffee, there will be artists available to do a cartooning of them, he added.*CGS
