Pontevedra school receives
books from SM Foundation

The Antipolo National High School in Pontevedra town, Negros Occidental, received 170 books from SM Foundation Inc., through principal Dency Grace Padillon, recently, a press release from the Department of Education said.

She said the books will be very useful to the teachers and students as additional references for research activities and other academic undertakings, and thanked the foundation for the donation, that was made possible through the Social Mobilization and Networking Section of the School Governance and Operations Division.

The strong partnership of the DepEd Division of Negros Occidental with the SM Foundation paved the way for the book donation, Nelson Escobin, head of the Social Mobilization and Networking Section, said in the press release.

Floressa May Castro of SM City Bacolod said the company is committed to help improve the quality of life and give opportunities for change.

The books are of various subjects, and can be used to complement the textbooks used in classrooms, the press release added.*

Calatrava school
gets buildings

Calatrava Mayor Araceli Somosa and Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Anthony Liobet led the groundbreaking of the Senior High School four-storey building and one-storey, two-classroom KALAHI-CIDSS at Col. Griffin National High School in Minapasok, Calatrava, yesterday.

Somosa said that Calatrava, especially CGNS, was very thankful for the donations since the buildings would help a lot of students, a DepEd press release said.

The 24-classroom two-storey building was provided by DepEd through the Department of Public Works and Highways in preparation for the implementation of the Senior HS in June 2016.

Liobet said that the CGNS is a strategic area where thousands of students from Calatrava and Don Salvador Benedicto towns will benefit from the school's offerings.

Meanwhile, KALAHI-CIDSS donated the one-storey two-classroom building also in preparation for next year, the press release said.

After the groundbreaking, Somosa and Liobet led the launching of the Senior HS both designed to promote the K to 12 program of the DepEd.

Also present during the activity were Josanlo Caldera, Education Program Specialist, and SB members Serafin Natial and Honey Boy Goc-ong, the press release said.*
