Raps set vs. gov’t workers

Charges are set to be filed against at least two government employees this week, for the ransacking of city treasurers’ offices of Bago and Escalante, Senior Supt, Milko Lirazan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, said yesterday.

Investigations by the police showed that the ransacking incidents at the city halls of Bago and Escalante were “inside jobs”.

More than P2 million in cash and checks were taken from the Escalante City Treasurer’s Office, while the suspects failed to get cash from the vault of the Bago City Treasurer’s Office, although they managed to get about P500,000 worth of digital equipment and accessories from the Mayor’s Office, police records show.

Lirazan said complaints of qualified theft and robbery will be filed against the suspects in Bago and Escalante, respectively.

Other local government offices victimized by robbers were that of Hinobaan, Cauayan, Valladolid, Moises Padilla and Calatrava.*GPB
