Architects forum set

The United Architects of the Philippines Area C, composed of 21 chapters from the Western and Eastern Visayas, will hold its annual conference January 30 to February 1 at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The theme is “Hugyaw Visayas,” its press release said.

Expected to participate in the event are about 250 architects from the islands of Negros, Panay, Cebu, Samar, Leyte and Bohol. It will be hosted by the Bacolod, Negrense, and Mt. Kanlaon UAP chapters, and will feature seminars, sports activities and cultural tour, the press release also said.

The seminars will focus on disaster resilient designs and updates on design-build techniques to improve the capabilities and skills of the architects in the wake of the recent natural calamities.

Rotarians give relief goods

About 750 families affected by super-typhoon “Yolanda” received relief goods from the Rotary Club of Bacolod during an outreach mission held in barangays Inzo Arnaldo and Cagay in Roxas City, Capiz, recently, a press release from the club said.

The event, in partnership with the Menlo College Business School, based in California, USA, was attended by governor Mark Anthony Ortiz of District 3850, RC Bacolod president Goey Mapa, and Rotarians Amelyn Bravo, Cha Puentevella, Caryl Diamante, Bill dela Fuente, Raul Undan, Jonathan Avelino and Tony Gumiran from RC North Edsa, the press release added.*
