The construction of a City Hospital Annex at the provincial hospital
compound is more logical and practical for Dumaguete City than establishing its
own hospital, Negros Oriental State University president Dr. Henry Sojor said.
Sojor said he discussed the matter recently with Councilor Noel de Jesus,
a member of the city health board. He said running a city hospital entails a huge
amount of money. Sojor said he believes the Oriental Negros government will not
make it hard for the city to acquire an annex for city patients, because Dumaguete
it still part of the province.
Meanwhile, the construction of a P10-million
"lying in" building is expected before the year ends.
The "lying in" building
will cater to mothers with abnormal deliveries, and will be constructed at the
site of burned City Prosecutor's Building, beside the Bureau of Fire Protection
