Bacoleña wins modeling tilt

Bacoleña Grendel Alvarado was named last night as the Philippine' Next Top Model in a reality modeling program aired over RPN Channel 9.

Alvarado, 22, bested 13 other contestants in the show hosted by Ruffa Gutierrez. At 5 feet 8 inches tall Grendel was confident of bagging the title, saying that she has what it takes to be the Philippines next top model.

She is the eldest of the two children of Robert and Aleth Alvarado of Bacolod City.

Grendel is a third year nursing student at the University of St. La Salle. She went to Manila early this year for the Top Model contest.

She looks up to Gisele Budchen as her favorite model because of the latter's pretty face, great body, and graceful and glamorous poise.

It was a one-on-one showdown between Grendel and Parañaque lass Rina Lorilla in the final episode of the Top Model competition last night.

The show follows the format of America's Top Model produced by supermodel Tyra Banks.

It also follows the transformation of young women into potential supermodels. The contestants were judged weekly by a panel of judges composed of Wilma Doesnt, Vince Uy, Robbie Carmona, Pauline Sauco-Juan and Xander Angeles.*NB
