Fifty-seven agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) were installed in a 32.39-hectare property in Barangay Abuanan, Bago City in Negros Occidental Tuesday.
The landholding was previously owned by Juan L. Jalandoni and covered under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program with Extension and Reforms through the compulsory acquisition scheme.
In a ceremony facilitated by the Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental South, Municipal Agrarian Reform Program officer Domingo Gatmaitan urged the beneficiaries to avail of support services from government agencies, especially DAR, and not to engage in any activities prohibited by the agency.
He also reminded the ARBs of their obligations and responsibilities, such as payment of real property tax to the local government and annual amortization to the LandBank of the Philippines.
Senior Agrarian Reform Program technologist Arren Mondejar assured the farmers that the agency will provide training and workshops to develop the awarded lands and to empower the farmer-beneficiaries.
The installation ceremony was divided in five batches to observe proper health protocols and to avoid large gatherings as measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019.*
