Western Visayas has 11 new COVID-19 positive cases, including four seafarers who were repatriated to Negros Occidental and Bacolod City last week, the Department of Health reported yesterday.

The four who had been stranded in Manila arrived at the Bacolod Real Estate and Development Corp. (BREDCO) port in Bacolod City on board a 2Go Malasakit Voyage on April 28 along with 51 other seafarers and were immediately placed under quarantine.

The four seafarers are asymptomatic, which means they are not manifesting any symptoms of the virus. moremoremore

DOLE assists 20,006 workers in WV

Some 20,000 private sector workers in Western Visayas have already availed of the Department of Labor and Employment’s Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program.

The DOLE Region 6 yesterday said more than P100-million in financial assistance was disbursed to 20,006 workers in 1,061 business establishments in the region.

Under CAMP, workers in the formal sector will receive a one-time financial assistance of P5,000.
