12 Negrense artists

A group art exhibit featuring the works of 12 Negrense visual artists opened Friday at the Ablit Nava Art Gallery at 21 Domingo Lizares Street, Talisay City in Negros Occidental, and this will run until March 28.

The exhibit is being held by the Christian Artists National Various Arts Society (Canvas) in cooperation with the Babayi Arts Group, in celebration of the National Arts Month.

Titled “Ani ng Sining”, the show features the works of gallery owner Pablita Nava, pastor Arthur Bayles, Miriam, Daniel, Elijah, Jasper, and Karen Bayles, pastor Leo Cantancio, Sony Golez, Mary Joy Lopez, Jeroel Leyble, and Chrysee Samillano.

The guests of honor at the opening ceremony were Talisay supervising tourism operations officer Renea Ferrer, and barangay captain Arnel Jalandoni.

Canvas president Arthur Bayles said the exhibit features the different styles of the individual artist.

“Our objective is to glorify the Lord through the good things we see in life which we project through art,” he said.

Yanson-Ferrer said they are encouraging artists and tourism enthusiasts to develop destinations.

Ferrer said there are many artists in Talisay but they do not have a big place where they could be accommodated.*
