CVIRAA 2020 kicks off
March 21 in Dumaguete
BY RENE GENOVE

About 20,000 athletes will converge in Dumaguete City on March 15-21 to compete in the Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association meet (CIVRAA), Department of Education Region 7 Director Salustiano Jimenez said.

The student-athletes from the 19 school divisions across the region will compete for the gold, silver, and bronze medals at stake in different sporting events.

As a precaution to the spread of the coronavirus, Dumaguete City Schools Division Supt. Cyrus Elejorde said that athletes who will manifest flu- like symptoms prior to the games can opt out of the competition.

Public school teachers will undergo lectures on how to manage the information dissemination of COVID 19 to correct misconceptions and equip them on how to handle suspected cases of infection.

Health authorities are screening all incoming passengers and tourists in bus terminals, sea ports and airport to detect and isolate those who manifest flu- like signs and symptoms.*
