13 ARBs installed in Bago

The Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Occidental South installed 13 agrarian reform beneficiaries in Bago City Friday.

They were installed after receiving their Certificates of Land Ownership Awards, covering over eight hectares of landholding formerly owned by the Insular Bank of Asia and America in Bago.

Jeremiah Barrientos, senior agrarian reform program technologist, who represented Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Aurea Lingamen, told the farmers to organize themselves into a cooperative.

“I encourage you to join agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations because it is through these organizations that farmers could avail of support services from DAR,” Barrientos told the farmers.

He also reminded the farmers of their obligations to their newly acquired property, advised them not to sell their lands, and to pay their taxes to the government and the annual land amortization to the Land Bank of the Philippines.*
