LCP to aid affected
cities Leonardia

The League of Cities of the Philippines is extending financial assistance to cities affected by the Taal eruption, LCP president and Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday.

Leonardia said they have postponed indefinitely their national executive board meeting that was supposed to be held tomorrow because of the incident.

This is a board meeting that is supposed to be attended by Senator Aquilino Pimentel III and Deputy Speaker and 1-PacmanPartylist Rep. Michael Romero, he said.

The LCP has a policy of giving a reasonable amount to affected cities during disasters, he added.

Since Bacolod City is not affected, theyare allowed to use part of their disaster fund to donate to the affected communities like what happened in Mindanao, Leonardia said.

They will make an assessment as to what city is most affected and deserves assistance, he said.*
