Tumor patient buried,
family still need help

The 16-year-old boy who succumbed to a rare type of brain tumor was laid to rest on Sunday at a cemetery in Bacolod City.

However, the family of Joshua Louise Cadagat of Barangay Villamonte is still seeking financial help for his hospital bill that reached P376,000 , Negrense charity diva Token Lizares said yesterday.

Cadagat died of craniopharyngioma, a rare type of noncancerous (benign) brain tumor, on January 1 at a hospital in Bacolod after two months of being in a state of prolonged unconsciousness .

His mother, Wendelle, said her son had been battling the disease since he was five years old , and had undergone a series of operations s ince 2016 .

As of last night, the family received P12,000 in cash donations from the DAILY STAR readers, which was already paid to the hospital.

“The family still has a balance of P364,000 at the hospital, and they need help,” Lizares said.

She said she will hold a benefit concert in May as a tribute to Cadagat. “All proceeds from the concert will go to his hospital bill,” she added.

A benefit concert was earlier set for Cadagat on January 12 but was cancelled due to his passing.

Lizares said that those who already bought tickets will be accommodated in her benefit concert this May, as long as they present their tickets.

For those who are interested to help Cadagat ’s family , they can drop by the Visayan DAILY STAR office in Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City.*
