‘Golden decade’ of city infra set

This year is going to be a golden decade of infrastructure in Bacolod City because, for the first time ever, the city is set to implement more than P2 billion worth of projects, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday.

Leonardia said this will be made possible because of the P1.7 billion loan they have obtained from the Development Bank of the Philippines to fund the city’s four flag-ship projects.

They expect to start the construction of the P800 million Bacolod MassKara Sports Arena and Coliseum and the P163-million museum-auditorium on a lot donated by the Yanson family in Barangay Tangub in the first quarter of this year, he said. moremoremore

Chicken prices in Negros rising

Prices of chicken have shot up in local markets since the start of the year due to the increase in its demand, Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said yesterday.

Decena said the demand for chicken surged because of the scare brought by the African swine fever outbreak in Luzon and the scarcity of fish due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan” season.

Right now, the prices of chicken in the market are pegged at P155 to P170 per kilo, he said. “Before Christmas, the price was P135 per kilo, and P140 to P150 during the Christmas season,” he added.
